Blue Planet Washing Solutions

Empowering Sustainability During Recycle Week and Beyond

Celebrating Recycle Week

Getting the message across about the importance of recycling hasn’t always been easy, but the annual Recycle Week has certainly helped. This flagship event has helped to raise awareness since 2004, and this year’s occasion promises to be more important perhaps than ever before. Held between the 16th and the 22nd of October, the 20th anniversary Recycle Week is designed to inspire everyone, from individuals to governments and all points in between. Here in the UK, around 45% of household waste is recycled, a figure that has remained relatively static for several years. Sadly, a target of 50% that was originally set for England has so far not been achieved.

Another splendid initiative took place a month before Recycle Week, and it proved to be a great success. The Big Beach Clean saw events all over the UK and Ireland, with thousands of people taking part. Not only does the clean-up help to rid our waterfront of tons of unwanted rubbish, but it also gives analysts a chance to build a clearer picture of the condition of our oceans. Here at Blue Planet Washing Solutions, we were understandably delighted to be involved.

Of course, key to making our waterfront cleaner is the need to end reliance on single-use plastics, and our top of the range washing services enable stronger with returnables. Cups, plates, cutlery and the like are used extensively in the hospitality sector, and with our help events of the future can be geared ever more effectively towards sustainability. Blue Planet’s commitment to responsible waste management is there for all to see.

Come and join us as we change the world

October’s Recycle week has missed capture as its overall theme. One of the main focuses of this initiative is to highlight how many items in the home, and indeed in the workplace, are overlooked because people don’t realise they can be recycled. These can include empty aerosol cans, food tins, plastic toiletry bottles and plastic tubs. The organisers are aiming their messages not only at individuals, but also towards schools, local authorities and businesses. There are plenty of events taking place, and it promises to be extremely enjoyable as well as highly productive. If you’d like to take part, or to join BPWS, feel free to contact our team.

One of the most effective strategies for improving sustainability is the circular economy. This is a process that can involve production and consumption of many items, which are then re-used, shared, repaired, cleaned or refurbished before making them fit for usage once again. The life cycle of such products is then greatly lengthened, cutting back hugely on waste. Our state-of-the-art washing facilities for returnables is an example of what can be achieved, and how such facilities can transform the way an industry sector does business.
